  •   EMIRATES AFI AWARDS 2001

The Emirates 43rd Australian Film & Television Awards, presented by AFI, were held at The Royal Exhibition Building, Melbourne on the evening of Friday 16 November, 2001.

The presentation was telecast live to a national audience.

AFI Chief Executive, Deb Verhoeven congratulated all nominees but particularly the short filmmakers and animators who competed in a field of entries nearly double the size of last year. "We are thrilled with the increment of short film and animation entries this year from 54 to 90. There's a great mix - some first timers and some previous AFI Awards nominees, like animators Sarah Watt (The Way of the Birds 2000) and Anthony Lucas (Slim Pickings 1999)."
