The Australian Film, Television and Radio School have recently upgraded the speaker systems in both the main theatre and the mix theatre.

In the main theatre three new front speakers have been installed, JBL 3632 cinema speakers. These speakers are driven by three new QSC digital cinema amplifiers, model DCA 1622. Two new amplifiers have been added to the surround speakers, replacing the single amplifier that had been doing the job.

Two different sound heads are fitted to the projector. The first being the Dolby Cat 701 digital sound head and the second being the Kelmar LED analog head for reading optical soundtracks up to SR. The digital signal from the 701 sound head now is fed through the Dolby DA20 digital sound processor and the CP65 cinema sound processor.

In the mix theatre the techs have added 3 new amplifiers, QSC Model DCA 1622. A new Dolby CP65 cinema sound processor. A new JBL 4645 sub woofer. All the speakers in the mix suite have been equalized and realigned.
