SCREEN SOUND DAY AT ENTECH 2000 THE AUSTRALIAN SCREEN SOUND GUILD WILL BE PRESENTING A FULL DAY SEMINAR AT ENTECH 2000 Screen Sound Day will be presented on Sunday March 5 2000 at Entech 2000, to be held at the Sydney Showground and Exhibition Complex, Homebush Bay. There will be plenty of demonstrations and clips of good (and not good) sound with picture. The one-day program will be broken into three sessions, with time in between for trade show browsing and breaks. It is aimed at everyone not actively working in screen sound - beginners, students, recoding enthusiasts, amateurs and professionals employed elsewhere in film and vision seeking to expand their understanding of screen sound. SESSION
1 Ross Linton and Ben Osmo introduce the location recording team. They will demonstrate good, bad and best practice - this session sets the scene for the rest of the day. SESSION
2 Wayne Pashley (Sound Supervisor), Julius Chan (Dialogue Editor), John Patterson (Sound Effects Editor), and Helen Brown (Foley Artist) deal with the layering of a soundtrack, including the Final Mix; Location Sound; Dialogue Premix; Fx Premix; Foley Premix; Fx and Foley Premixes together; and more. There will be scenes and examples to see and hear, as well as a history of editing detailed from the 1920's to now, and also the modern formats, DTS, SDDS etc will be detailed. SESSION
3 Phil Heywood and Gethin Creagh demonstrate how the whole thing comes together into the Final Mix, using location sound, ADR, edited dialogue, foley, edited fx, atmosphere and music. Screen
