AWARDS 2011

Following on from the Awards edition of the e-news I have to make one correction. It seems I made an error not once but three times.
It’s Tara Webb who won the Student Award. I have to say Tara was a real help the night of the Awards so I hope she forgives me. I also called her Lara on the night. I can only assume it must have something to do with a long flight I took recently where I watched the original film of Dr Zhivago.

Lost Property: Cleaning up after the Awards a silver scarf was found and a black women’s top. Any owners?

For those of you who didn’t attend the Awards and hear the news, I’m resigning as President of the Guild. It has been been a fun eight years but it’s time for new blood. It’s a lot of hard work but no regrets this end, been a lot of fun. Also been to every Awards night, not a bad innings.

So, the AGM this year will be held on the 10th December.

All positions will be declared vacant.
Trevor Harrison will retire from his position.
Tony Murtagh has expressed his interest in continuing.
Philip Purcell has expressed his interest in continuing.
David Glasser will retire from his position.
Nominations for all positions are open and must be received by 5.00.p.m. next Friday the 18th November 2011.
Email your nomination to president@assg.org.au
If you are nominating yourself it must be seconded. Only financial members can nominate and vote. As members are all over the country we will have a system of proxy votes.
Again, proxy votes are only open to financial members.

To give you some idea of the breakdown of members:
New South Wales 106
Victoria 22
Queensland 14
South Australia 5
Western Australia 4

Speaking of members, we have two new members. Wes Chew - Sound Designer at Sonic Music in NSW, and Michael Darren - Sound Designer, Mixer, Composer in Adelaide.

Well that just about wraps it up for the moment, been a big two weeks.
